Tendo is the largest producer of the board game shogi in Japan. With over 160 years of history, this traditional craft has been handed down to the present day. View precious shogi pieces at the Tendo City Shogi Museum next to JR Tendo Station and at the museum’s exhibition corner.
A large temple of the Tendai sect in Tohoku, founded by Jikaku Daishi in 680. With the Wooden Image of Yakushi Nyorai (an Important Cultural Property) and many other treasures and historic ruins remaining, this scenic spot offers exceptional views from the top of the stairs at Godaido.
