Yamagata is known as the Kingdom of Fruit. Even within the prefecture, the town of Tendo is renowned for its cherries, peaches, and grapes.
Tendo is the largest shogi board game manufacturer in Japan. With over 160 years of history, this traditional craft has been handed down through the years to the present day. View precious shogi pieces at the Tendo City Shogi Museum’s exhibition corner, right next to JR Tendo Station.
A large temple of the Tendai sect in Tohoku, founded by Jikaku Daishi in 680. With the Wooden Image of Yakushi Nyorai (an Important Cultural Property) and many other treasures and historic ruins, this scenic spot offer exceptional views from the top of the steps at Godaido.
The largest snow area in Tohoku. Created by the special climate conditions, the hoarfrost of Mt. Zao is world class. There is also a famous hot spring that’s said to have been flowing for over 1,000 years.

Peak snowfall is from January to February.
How do I get to Ginzan Onsen? [If coming by train]
When going to Ginzan Onsen from the hotel, you must take both the train and a bus.
Tendo Station → Oishida Station → (transfer to bus) → Ginzan Onsen
(1) Our staff will drop you off and pick you up from Tendo Station, the closest station to Tendo Hotel, for free.
Please send us an email to let us know in advance what time you would like to be picked up and dropped off.
(Please be sure to include the date of your stay, the reservation name, and your preferred pick-up/drop-off time)
(2) Take the train from Tendo Station and get off at Oishida Station.
(3) Take the bus from Oishida Station all the way to Ginzan Onsen.

Is there a bus that goes directly from Tendo Onsen to Ginzan Onsen?
There is usually no direct bus.
